Cinnamon Rolls TO DIE FOR!

By The Petite Plantation - January 10, 2018

Even though I try my hardest not to eat any grains, I will spoil my gut for these cinnamon rolls because they are to die for!  Luckily I have ZenGest to help me get through the digestive aftermath!

They are seriously good, cheaper than buying them at the bakery, and quite easy and quick to make! We have are trying to make more and more things ourselves, not to rely on retail, and practicing these vintage skills to save us cash!

To top them off, this Cream Cheese Frosting makes them a decadent dessert, although they taste pretty amazing on their own! These would freeze well also if you stuck them on parchment paper JUST before you bake them!

Freezing them and doing a double batch is a great idea, otherwise they will all be eaten in a day! Our boys could barely wait to get their hand on them and they were gone withing two days. They know what a real treat it is because I rarely make sweets such as these!

This recipe is based off of a similar recipe you can find at jocooks.com but I have made a few adjustments so they are easier, quicker and have less steps!

TO DIE FOR Cinnamon Rolls

Dough Ingredients:

2 1/4 tsp of active dry yeast
1 cup warm milk
1/2 cup sugar
1/3 cup soft salted butter
1 tsp salt
2 eggs
4 cups flour

Cinnamon Filling:

1 cup of brown sugar
3 tbsp cinnamon
1/3 cup soft salted butter

Cream Cheese Frosting:

6 tbsp soft salted butter
1 1/2 cups of incing sugar
1/4 cup cream cheese
1/2 tsp vanilla extract

To make the dough, add your warmed milk and yeast into the bowl of your stand mixer and let sit for 5 minutes or until it starts to bubble. Add all the other ingredients and stir with dough hook until combined well. Pull the dough from the sides of the bowl and oil the bowl. Let the dough rise for about an hour or until it's doubled in size.

Combine the Cinnamon Filling ingredients in a bowl and set aside. Once your dough has doubled in size, roll the dough out on a lightly floured surface until it is a rectangle about 12" x 16" and spread your Cinnamon Filling evenly across the dough. On the long side of your rectangle roll the dough onto itself and cut into 12 pieces.

Place into greased 2 round 8" pans or a  9" x 13" pan and bake at 350F for 20 minutes or until golden brown. While they are baking combine all the Cream Cheese Frosting ingredients. Let cinnamon buns cool for 10 minutes before adding the frosting!
